This book was pretty good. I think I preferred the first book because it was more action-packed. However, I did find the court trial process interesting. I like how Acturus through holes in Didric's whole story and completely discredited him. I thought that Inquisitor Rook was a good villain. The way he surprised Acturus and Fletcher with another trial immediately after Fletcher was about to regain his freedom surprised me. At the end of the second trial it was a slight surprised me to find out that Fletcher was born a noble of the Raleigh family. I thought his heritage was going in a completely different direction. Even though everyone thought he was the bastard son of Lord Faversham, I thought he was going to be the bastard son of Lady Faversham, in all honesty. Boy was I wrong. I'm glad I was though. I think the best part about his book was that I didn't have to reread the first book to remember what all happened either that or the ending. I can't believe that the prisoner was actually Lady Raleigh, Fletcher's mom. Rufus was so sure that was his mom. It made me really happy for Fletcher. That was the biggest shock. I remembered thinking in the first book, "What the hell, happened to Jefferey? Fletcher and him seemed like they got along so well and would be such good friends." Then he came into the second book and it was a little shocking. He only showed up once in the first book and now he is kind of a main character... To find out it was all because he hated the dwarves and the elves and was trying to start a Civil War. Damn. That was the second biggest shock. Fletcher's trues heritage had to of been the third biggest shock. All and all, I can't wait to tread the third book. To find out what happens to Fletcher and his mom. As well as, what is with that prophecy they told...
